The big bad Bulldog in this picture is getting an earful from his old lady for staying out all night with his rowdy dog buddies. He'll be the laughing stock of the group for years to come. The illustrator behind these now infamous dogs playing pool images is the late Arthur Sarnoff. Sarnoff was inspired by similar paintings created by C.M. Coolidge and went on to make a name for himself with the dog art tasteful pin-up girl calendars and numerous magazine ads and illustrations in the 1930s 40s and 50s.
